There are also plenty of women who establish careers and then decide to work from home later so they can care for their children and run a household. Feminism was established so women could choose their own future whatever that may be.
You can run a household without staying at home all the time. My mom worked a full time teaching job and continued her college education by getting a masters and cared for me and my sister all at the same time. Its about the right to choose but it’s also about equality and wanted to get out of the shadow of the “a woman’s place is in the kitchen” mindset.
Yes, but you can also stay at home and have an established career. Neither choice is better than the other and neither choice is any less respectable. I think we may be talking about two different types of women. There are the women who run out and get pregnant and expect to be supported and not have to lift a finger. These women also aren’t the ‘head of household’ types. They’re the types who expect their husbands to do the disciplining, have the tv babysit the kids, and hardly do anything to keep the household running and efficient. There are also the women who simply want to have a bigger part in raising their children and being a mother. These women are the ones who have already satisfied what they want out of a career and perhaps have made a decent enough amount to no longer have to work, or who move their work to home. Some women prefer this to having to put their children in daycare, or they simply want to richen their childs life with daily adventures and more personal interaction. They are the ones who, if presented with a problem, correct it, not run to their husbands to do the hard work. They keep the household running and are able to be in the environment that makes them happy. I don’t really think the whole a women’s place is in the kitchen comes into play all that much when a women is deciding where she wants to spend her days, but more so what degree of work the woman wants to be doing (this would be more so with the aforementioned ‘meal ticket’ women). There are some women who are more career oriented and their are some who are more maternal, there are even some who are a mix of both. None of these women are any less so for making their personal life choice.
You can still go to college, be successful and be a housewife and run a household. There are plenty of women who establish careers and make their money before establishing a family so they can be a stay at home mother later in life.
Yeah you can go to college but what’s the point in wasting the money if you’re not going to use the education anyway? I don’t think it’s right to live under someone else’s shadow, like a husband or wife. I think in a marriage or relationship there should be equality including with the income. I know many marriages where one of the spouses hold it over the other ones head that they make more money. I also know stay at home moms who now have to work a minimum wage paying job either because their husband got laid off or because of the crappy economy. I just think that men and women should be equal in every aspect and girls should strive for that. PS i love you.
I’m not saying you should live under your husbands shadow. You can still have a career and be a housewife, such as making your money earlier in life and saving up knowing that later on you want to stay home, for example after your children are born. Or as I mentioned transitioning from someone who has a successful career outside of the home to one who runs their career while staying at home. There are plenty of housewifes/ stay at home moms who work from home and make decent pay. In neither of this situations are you wasting your money or your education. Also their is a point to be made that women originally protested to have the right to attend college simply because they wanted to further their education, not necessarily because it would further them career wise. I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to run a household and be at home raising your children. It’s not the right choice for everyone, but it is for some women, and I think it is a respectable one. I feel like girls who want to be stay at home moms or housewives automatically get a bad rap because too many are unwilling to look at the bigger picture, that they are not running out to get knocked up so they can sit on their asses. I love you too obviously lol.
while most girls are listening to TAYLOR SWIFT AND ONE DIRECTION, im listening to AVENGED SEVENFOLD AND THE BEATLES. while most girls want to grow up to be HOUSEWIVES, i want to go to COLLEGE- and keep my shirt on thank you, because unlike most sluts i have SELF RESPECT. call of duty? hell yeah! ill kick your ass better than any boy could and look sexy while doing it! and id love to because i cant stand hanging out with girls- too much drama. and while most girls are shopping im at home laughing at some good memes because unlike them i have a sense of HUMOR
I like One Direction (though I’m not proud of it) and the Beatles and I go to college. Mario Kart? Hell yeah! I’ll throw a fucking banana at you better than any boy could and I’ll look fucking sEXY while doing it. I hang out with boys and girls and I like shopping AND laughing at “some good memes.”
Because my whole life is a joke.
And I have a sense of humor about it.
Because everyone knows you can’t go to college AND be a housewife. Also I get the comparison between Taylor Swift and One Direction, but Avenged Sevenfold and The Beatles? YOU MUST BE JOKING. Two completely separate levels. I’ve never heard that taking your shirt off results in you becoming a housewife. In fact I feel like thats a trait usually assigned to college girls, specifically the type you claim to be. The ones who want to ‘be one of the guys’, but still look ‘fucking sexy’ while doing it. NEWS FLASH, bros don’t try to bed their fellow bros. P.s i’m a girl and I’M FUCKING HILARIOUS OKAY. oooh yeahhh ego, whatever. I’m funny as shit, so you can kiss my ass. Look at your life, look at your choices.
How was your day, what did you do today? Ask for an ask, im paying you back ;)
I had a pretty awful day actually. I’m exhausted because this is my last week of school and I have a ton of work and i’m starting to get sick so when I found out my one class was canceled I got really excited and took the 45 minute trip home and promptly got an email from my teacher saying class was back on. Seriously? And just a bunch of other stuff was going wrong all day. But mainly i’ve been doing school work all day.
